How healthy are your motors?
Motor asset management, inventory levels, in-service failures and scheduled preventive maintenance can all be challenges for any facility manager or maintenance professional. As a part of a formal PdM program, Motor Circuit Evaluation (MCE) and dynamic Motor Current Analysis (MCA) tests the motor and circuits providing insight into current operating conditions and identifies potential operational concerns.
An effective motor testing program
Predictive Service tests motors and circuits at regular intervals, taking into consideration the criticality of the component and the likelihood for failure. We provide both static MCE and dynamic MCA testing for effective diagnosis. Our certified technicians provide onsite testing in conjunction with our infrared service to minimize the effect on scheduling and equipment operations.
Motor Current Analysis testing
The MCA is an online test that provides a comprehensive view of the overall motor performance and operating assessment. We perform a number of MCA tests, including:
- In-Rush and Start-Up Analysis
- Low and High Resolution Current Capture
- Eccentricity Capture
- Advanced Spectral Analysis
- Power Analysis
Motor Circuit Evaluation testing
The MCE is an offline test that provides a comprehensive view of the overall motor and circuit condition. High frequency AC and low voltage DC signals are transmitted through the circuit to collect the parameters used for diagnosis. Results are trended, compared to caution and alarm levels, and annotated in red or yellow to alert the user of potential problems. Some of the parameters collected include:
- Resistance-to-Ground
- Capacitance-to-Ground
- Phase Resistance
- Phase Inductance
